Directors Message
Joey’s Pouch Educational Childcare Centre Inc at Murwillumbah have ratios of one adult to three babies. This is a quality care measure that is supportive of an environment that nurtures the learning and development of infants and encourages the development of positive and reciprocal relationships steeped in trust between infants, families and educators thus providing the infant with a deep sense of security and belonging.
Recently there has been a lot of misinformation by some sectors within the early childhood industry about increased financial impact for families associated with the National Quality Standards which will incorporate lower child /staff ratios for under twos and threes and mandatory qualifications for all Early Childhood Educators and Teachers. These standards have been negotioated with all states and territories by the current Federal Labour Government and when implemented will support the right of all children to high quality early childhood education and care. I would like to again reassure families that Joey’s Pouch already provides lower child /staff ratios and all members of the staff team have the mandatory qualifications that will be required.
Nominal fee increases at Joey’s are due to increases in everyday running costs of a
business. The process for making the decision to increase fees includes a series of meetings by the financial committee where the budget is fully discussed and analysed and
consideration is given to recommendations made by the services auditor to assist in
maintaining the financial viability of the service. Any future fee increases will be assessed in the same manner and would certainly not be increased as a direct result of the
implementation of the national quality standards.
Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children.
Charles R. Swindoll
With Kind Regards
