April 2008 - NEiTA teacher awards: Call for nominations PDF Print E-mail

Teachers make an important contribution to the lives of young people and help shape the future of our country – yet few opportunities arise to recognise the true value of the role they play within the community.

The NEiTA teaching awards

Launched in Australia in 1994 by the Australian Scholarships Group, the National Excellence in Teaching Awards (NEiTA) program aims to recognise and honour excellent teachers from local communities and to encourage students to enter the teaching profession.

The ASG Inspirational Teacher Awards

This year NEiTA have launched the new ASG Inspirational Teacher Awards, which honour inspirational teachers who contribute to education and the community. The awards exemplify NEiTA's new focus on recognising teachers who inspire and encourage students, building confidence and sparking creativity.

Nominations now open

You can nominate a teacher online at www.neita.com.au, by calling 1800 624 487 or emailing neita@asg.com.au.

The closing date for nominations is 31 July 2008.

Five great reasons to nominate

  1. Teachers do amazing work every day in our schools and centres. This is a great opportunity to thank them and tell Australia.
  2. Recognising a teacher for an award is a celebration for the whole school community.
  3. A great teacher is an inspiration to generations of current and future teachers.
  4. Nominations keep the focus on high standards of education in our schools.
  5. Grants and prizes promote professional development.
