Reports from the US have announced another recent purchase by the Australian early childhood company, ABC Learning. ABC Learning is the world's biggest childcare provider listed on the stock exchange.
ABC Learning Centres, Australia's largest child care provider, last week agreed to purchase Dallas-based Children's Courtyard for $66 million. This acquisition follows ABC's recent acquisition of the Learning Care Group. At the time of this latest acquisition, the Learning Care Group was the third largest for profit child care provider in North America and Children's Courtyard, the ninth largest.
The combined companies still remain the third largest group, but the merger increased the capacity of the Learning Care Group by 21%. According to Learning Care Group CEO Bill Davis, ‘This acquisition will move us closer toward our goal of becoming the industry leader in early childhood education and family solutions.'
