Results from a National Health Survey (www.abs.gov.au) showed that 17.6% of children aged 0-14 years reported sustaining a recent injury in the four weeks before the interview.
Children do not intentionally misuse products or expose themselves to potentially dangerous surroundings. They interact with them in ways that reflect normal childhood behaviour. Our job as guardians of the younger generation is to enhance child protection.
Standards Australia, in conjunction with Early Childhood Australia as a member, has developed a range of Child Safety Standards for manufacturers and consumers to help reduce the risks that surround children on a day-to-day basis.
Child Safety Standards include information on:
- General Child Safety
- Playground Safety
- Toy Safety
- Cot Safety
The Child Safety Standards brochure is available for download online (pdf)
