Looking to the future...

This issue of ECA WebWatch contains a host of fantastic resources to assist the parents and children at your service with the imminent transition to school.

We're also very excited to offer readers a sneak peak at a draft of the highly anticipated Your child's first year at school: A book for parents. Early Childhood Australia has been working with the Australian Primary Principals Association to enable schools to purchase multiple copies of this title at a special rate.

Thinking more generally about the future, this issue of ECA WebWatch contains links explaining global warming and detailing some everyday actions you can do to make a difference. This is a new policy area for Early Childhood Australia, reflecting our commitment to working towards a brighter (and greener) future for all children.

Early childhood event

World Aids Day - 1 December 2007
HIV/AIDS has robbed countless children of their parents, their childhood and their right to survive.

UNICEF is leading the fight against this threat to child survival with programs ranging from the prevention of mother-to-child transmission to comprehensive support for children who have been orphaned by the disease.

To mark World AIDS Day this year: Kimberly-Clark will match, dollar-for-dollar, donations in support of UNICEF's programs for children orphaned by AIDS, up to a total of $650,000.

Early Childhood Australia books

Early childhood environmental education: Making it mainstream explores implementing environmental education in an holistic, empowering and integrated way.

Successful kindergarten transition: Your guide to connecting children, families and schools helps professionals, step by step, to develop and implement a solid transition plan for their school, and to stay motivated and inspired.
