Young Media Australia (YMA) has introduced a new service for carers of young children.

Movie information and advice

YMA provides clear information and advice about the latest movies.

The reviews allow parents and carers to decide whether they are suitable for young children.

Over 200 films

YMA has a list of over 200 films, each reviewed by someone with child development experience. All new G and PG (and some M) films are included.

The reviews offer:

  • an overall recommendation for the film (e.g. not recommended under 5; parental guidance under 8);
  • a synopsis of the storyline;
  • a detailed analysis of the movie's themes; and
  • a rationale for the overall recommendation.

The YMA site also recommends videos for different age groups.

Find out more at www.youngmedia.org.au or call the Young Media Australia helpline on 1800 700 357.
