Young Media Australia, the national non-profit media monitoring organisation, have compiled Choosing fright-free fight-free viewing: A resource for parents of children under seven, which contains a list of 200 reviewed TV shows, films and video games. The resource is designed to assist parents, educators and carers in selecting violence-free media for children.

Safe media resources

Young Media Australia's Choosing fright-free fight-free viewing was produced to help parents, early childhood carers and educators reduce the amount of violent media which children under seven are exposed to.

The package, which includes a DVD, book and flyer, was developed around a list of 200 TV shows, films and video games which were reviewed by three early childhood professionals. The Choosing fright-free fight-free viewing list rates the 200 items as either 'approved non-violent' or 'approved with caution' followed by an explanation for the caution.
