Early Childhood Australia has completed negotiations on an enterprise bargaining agreement for its staff.
This agreement is a first for Early Childhood Australia, and we believe that it puts the organisation in a strong position for the future.
The process has involved many people over an extended period of time. All those involved – staff and executive – are happy with the outcome. The level of cooperation that took place is reflected in the fact that the union has included an article in its newsletter, citing the process as an example of how a 'greenfields' agreement (a new document, as opposed to one which has been updated) can be conducted successfully.
Key points of the EBA are:
- 12 months parental leave, with 4 weeks paid leave;
- flexible working conditions;
- an average pay increase of 17.2% over 3 years; and
- remuneration which better reflects levels of responsibility.
Thanks must go to Pam Cahir, Claire Connelly, Judy Kynaston, Judy Radich, Christine Tutty, Sue Wales and Marion Whalan for their support and cooperation in reaching this positive outcome.
