In this issue, titled Sustained, shared thinking, Luke Touhill discusses the educators being actively engaged in children’s learning and sharing decision making with them.

As educators, we have a vital role to play in children’s learning. Through our interactions with children we provide support, encouragement and motivation, as well as information, resources and guidance. The Early Years Learning Framework firmly endorses play-based learning. It also strongly recognises the significant role that educators play in helping to ensure that children’s play and learning is effective and meaningful for them.
