Every Child finishes off 2020 with a rich and diverse selection of contributions representing a wide cross-section of the early childhood sector, including a word on ‘reflecting and reframing’ from ECA National President Christine Legg and tips on self-care from Be You Executive Amelia Joyce.
On the scholarly side, we have Holland Banse, an assistant professor at the University of Alabama in the United States, with five strategies to support dual-language learners in early learning settings. And a team of researchers—Kim Beasy, Sherridan Emery, Di Nailon and Diana Boyd—reports on a University of Tasmania trial that found venues where young children spent time with elderly members of their community also proved to be good professional learning opportunities for early childhood educators.
In a more personal piece, educator Amy Barthet details a journey of self-reflection on the social responsibility to not only acknowledge the entrenched racism that exists all around us, but to actively oppose it and educate young children to do the same.
