Children can be greatly affected by even the smallest loss.
Help them to manage grief and other challenging emotions by providing comfort and support.

How we support young children during difficult times can make a big difference to how they cope with present and future losses.

Everyday learning about loss and grief is an essential resource for all parents and carers. Recognised early childhood expert Pam Linke provides insightful advice assisting our understanding of what loss means to children, as well as outlining positive strategies to help children cope.

This book provides valuable, easy-to-read discussions about all aspects of loss and grief, including:

  • the emotions produced by loss
  • how children understand grief
  • the ways children may respond
  • cultural differences in the ways children may experience grief and loss
  • what parents and carers can do to help children cope.

Pam Linke draws on extensive knowledge of children's health and development to provide positive strategies to help children through times of grief, which everyone who cares for children will value.
