Young children do not come programmed knowing how to be social – it is our role as adults to teach social behaviours to children.

Young children's social behaviour is a wonderful resource full of powerful ideas for supporting children in learning responsibility for their own behaviour, as well as self-discipline and self-management.

Don't get caught in the trap of telling children what to do and then blaming them when they make a social mistake. There is an enormous difference between telling children what to do and teaching them what to do.

Young children's social behaviour is a brilliant book for parents and professionals wanting to guide children as they learn social behaviours. It is both a guide for teacher educators and a manual for practitioners already in the field.
