Gowrie Australia has developed Assessment in the early years to support educators as they undertake meaningful and ethical assessment of teaching and learning in ECEC. It talks about ‘assessment’ through the Early Years Learning Framework lens, providing examples of assessment and supporting documentation from educators across a range of early childhood settings including childcare, preschool, kindergarten and family day care.

These examples show how assessment processes provide:

• a way for educators to share their perspectives and deepen their connections
• information to help educators reflect on their programs and interactions
• guidance on planning for learning
• information that can promote continuity of learning and support successful transition to school.
