Growin’ Up Strong is a collection of children’s songs with an Aboriginal perspective, inspired by Wendy’s many years of teaching Aboriginal children at Murawina Multi-Purpose Aboriginal Education Centre in Redfern, Sydney. Murawina was established by Aboriginal women in the early 1070’s and continues to serve the Aboriginal community.

This CD is supported with the Teacher Resource Book, which provides background information and teaching notes. It enables non-Aboriginal teachers to easily implement an Aboriginal perspective into their classroom programs. The teaching notes are structured so that:

  • each song can stand alone or be used in conjunction with the other songs on the Teacher Resource Book
  • the songs can be adapted to the individual needs of students from early childhood to lower primary
  • minimal teacher preparation is required
  • activities can be adapted to suit whole class or group work.
