What we are looking for?

  • Tertiary qualifications, minimum Diploma in Children’s Services, degree in Early Childhood or above is desirable and or specialist skills.
  • Experience in building relationships with Education and Care services and related program providers.
  • Ability to plan, promote and evaluate the operations and services of a regional Inclusion Support Agency
  • Ability to plan and monitor budgets, undertake financial and reporting requirements and contribute to the development of organisational policies and operational processes.
  • Ability to lead a team of Inclusion Support Facilitators and support Educators that operate in early education and care services to assist in providing an inclusive environment for children with additional needs
  • Commitment to reflective practices, evaluation and ongoing development
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in Inclusion Support would be beneficial as well as management experience and a passion for this area of work.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To provide inclusion support to all early childhood education and care (ECEC) and Middle Childhood CCB approved services within the region by providing leadership to and management of the operations of the regional ISA and co-ordinating the activities of the Inclusion Support Facilitators (ISF) team to provide effective ISA service delivery.
The ISA Coordinator has a combined role of Coordinator and Inclusion Support Facilitator.

To promote the awareness of, and responsiveness to, the following priority groups within the services:

  • Children with on-going high support needs including children with a disability
  • Children from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds
  • Children with a refugee or humanitarian intervention background:
  • Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander children

Facilitate the implementation of the Northern Territory Regional Plan for the Inclusion Support Agency (ISA).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In consultation with the ECANT Branch Manager, the regional team and other stakeholders, develop and evaluate the annual ISA Regional Plan to provide support to all eligible ECEC and Middle Childhood services and ensure that the Plan is implemented within the region.
  • In consultation with the ECANT Branch Manager, develop and monitor the budget for the program within specified accountability requirements and prepare required organisational and funding body reports.
  • Manage the activities of the ISFs and provide them with specialist advice related to the priority groups, implementation of guidelines and program developments, opportunities for information sharing and professional development.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, coaching, supervision and appraisals of ISF staff. Provide specific induction, which is documented, for all staff and update regularly on new/revised work practices.
  • Promote the Inclusion Support Agency program, to ECEC and Middle Childhood eligible services, the community and other relevant organisations.
  • Undertake other duties, as and when directed within the scope of the role and the capabilities of the incumbent. Including but not limited to Sector and ECANT Branch projects and events.
  • Risk Management Responsibilities including: Follow safe work practices, procedures and instructions; perform all duties in a manner which ensures personal health and safety and that of others in the workplace; Report all hazards or incidents, which can cause harm and, participate in ongoing OH&S training as required.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

This position is accountable to the ECANT Branch Manager.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Tertiary qualifications, minimum Diploma in Children’s Services, degree in Early Childhood or above is desirable and or specialist skills and comprehensive knowledge in the areas of childcare, inclusion, early and middle childhood development and human services programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, ensuring they are provided with advice, implementation of guidelines and program developments, opportunities for information sharing and debriefing and professional development opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, promote and evaluate the operations and services of a regional Inclusion Support Agency ensuring access to quality inclusion support for all eligible ECEC and Middle Childhood Services
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and monitor budgets, undertake financial and reporting requirements and contribute to the development of organisational policies and operational procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of National Quality Standards; Early Years Learning Framework; My Time Our Place Framework; Australian Government education and care services sectors, relevant resources and supports; adult learning and Strength based principles and approaches.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and consultation skills including the ability to prepare complex funding submissions, resolve conflict, negotiation with internal and external stakeholders including the provision of advice and consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake reflective practice in relation to the provision of quality service delivery.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Packages (in particular Excel and Word) and other online databases.
  • Ability to work within the beliefs, mission, values, policies and procedures of Early Childhood Australia, the IPSP guidelines and adhere to the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety and other relevant Legislation as they apply to the region’s services.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS/INFORMATION:

  • Current Northern Territory Drivers Licence and own vehicle – Presentation of a current Drivers Licence must be made before your appointment to the position can be confirmed
  • Suitability Card for Child Related Employment (Ochre Card) – All adults who work with people under 18 years in NT are required to undergo a “Working with Children Check”. Presentation of a current Suitability Card must be made before your appointment to the position can be confirmed.
  • Ability to work out of hours, intra/interstate travel is required. Remote and very remote service delivery and travel in small aircraft is required.
  • The successful applicant must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility may be requested.
