Early Childhood Australia (ECA) is pleased that the 2023 Inaugural AJEC Invited Lecture was delivered virtually by Dr Francis Bobongie-Harris on Tuesday 25 July 2023.
The AJEC Invited Lecture recognises the scholarly work and contribution of leading academics of Early Childhood Education and Care. It provides the opportunity for the invited speaker to reflect upon, present and problematise the major issues and advances in their field of research.
Dr Francis Bobongie-Harris
Dr Francis Bobongie-Harris will deliver a lecture on Connections through Country and Community.
Dr Francis Bobongie-Harris is a Torres Strait and South Sea Islander woman from Yuwi Country. She is Senior Lecturer and Researcher with the School of Early Childhood and Inclusive Education at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Her research focuses on Indigenous education in Australia and the Pacific, and Australian South Sea Islander policy, history and cultural studies. She specialises in qualitative, ethnographic, narrative, community-led and participatory research methodologies.
Francis is an early childhood educator with 26 years’ experience working in New Zealand and Australia. Francis was a member of the Approved Learning Frameworks Update research team.
