The refresh includes new principles, recognising the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, sustainability and the importance of collaborative leadership. Learn more. ![]() Connected Beginnings: New sites announced The Australian Government has announced funding for nine new sites to expand the reach of the Connected Beginnings program. The expansion is expected to help 3,500 First Nations children become better prepared for school. The Narragunnawali Awards is the only national awards program that recognises and celebrates Australian early learning services implementing outstanding reconciliation initiatives. Apply now. ![]() ACCC invites expressions of interest The ACCC has published an indicative consultation schedule here for its pricing inquiry into the early childhood education and care sector. The ACCC is also calling for expressions of interest from providers with fewer than 40 services to understand the costs associated with running their businesses. Register here. ![]() Early childhood workforce discount update Early learning service providers can now extend the early childhood workforce discount to their employed cooks whose children are enrolled at one of their services. The cook must work at a centre-based day care or outside school hours care. Learn more about the how the discount works. State and territory news QLD The Queensland Government’s kindy savings program starts for families with children starting school this year. Depending on a family’s eligibility, the program may be free or available at a lower cost. Check your eligibility. SA South Australian primary schools now have specialist autism inclusion teachers, with more than 400 starting their roles in the first week back from the school holidays. Read the full story. VIC The Victorian Government’s Free Kinder initiative commenced with up to 140,000 families benefiting in the first year. Follow this link to learn more about the initiative. NT and WA The period of emergency in place for the early childhood education and care sector, in parts of the Northern Territory and Western Australia has been extended following ongoing flooding.
