The Connected Beginnings program will support 16,400 First Nations children in meeting the learning and development milestones necessary to achieve a positive transition to school. The survey responses are being considered by the Expert Panel review into the next National School Reform Agreement (NSRA). The event showcased the theme for Early Learning Matters Week 2023—learning through connection—and officially launched the Parliamentary Friends of Early Childhood for the 47th Parliament. Read more. ![]() New guide to belonging and connectedness in ECECECA, in collaboration with the Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO), has launched a practice guide focused on nurturing a sense of belonging and connectedness in ECEC. State and territory news ACT ACT families with children starting preschool or kindergarten in 2024 are invited to an interactive, online forum focused on supporting children and families as they transition to school. WA ECA Western Australia committee is bringing their annual state conference ‘The Year of Play’ to Curtin University on Saturday 2 September. TAS The Rockliff Government has committed to providing access to early learning for every child in the year before kindergarten by trialing their ‘Early Learning for Three Year Olds’ initiative. Workshops for families, community members and ECEC providers will commence in August as a first step in designing the trial sites. Learn more. VIC Monash Council and the Victorian Government are partnering on the delivery of a new purpose-built early years centre in Mount Waverley. Dorrington Child and Family Hub will offer families better access to multiple early years services all under the one roof. View more information. The Victorian Government will introduce a new system to support young hospital patients by making it easier for their families to raise concerns with health workers if they notice worrying changes in their child’s condition. The Minister for Health has announced ‘Safer Care for Kids’, a new family-led project from Safer Care Victoria (SCV) to improve outcomes for children in emergency care.
