Susan Groundwater-Smith
Susan Groundwater-Smith is the convenor of the Coalition of Knowledge Building Schools, whose purpose is to engage in ongoing, systematic practitioner inquiry. She has supported a large number of schools as an academic partner, introducing them to innovative methods of inquiry with a particular emphasis upon student voice and the use of images in capturing young people's perspectives on their learning experiences. Susan collaborates with the Audience Research Unit at the Australian Museum, assisting in consultation with students and teachers regarding actual and planned exhibitions. She works with a range of universities in Australia, UK and Netherlands.
Emeritus Professor Sue Dockett
Emeritus Professor Sue Dockett retired from Charles Sturt University and was awarded her honorary title in 2018. She remains active in the field of early childhood education research, as a Director of Peridot Education Pty Ltd. Sue has tirelessly advocated for the importance of recognising and responding to young children’s perspectives. She maintains this position in her current work, exploring topics like transitions to school and play-based learning with children, families and educators.
Dorothy Bottrell
Dorothy Bottrell is Senior Lecturer in Social Pedagogy in the College of Education at La Trobe University. Her background is in secondary teaching, juvenile justice, youth and community work and TAFE teaching in community services.
Dorothy’s first academic post was at the University of Sydney (2007-13). Since joining La Trobe University in mid-2013, Dorothy has led a team of staff to develop the new degree, Bachelor of Education (Social Pedagogy). This course prepares educators to work in community and human services contexts. She has also taught in the 4th year Bachelor of Education P-12, master's degrees in education, and supervised doctoral and minor thesis research.
