Who we are
The Early Childhood Australia Western Australia Committee is the state voice of ECA, representing and connecting early childhood professionals across Western Australia.
We support members locally while contributing to Early Childhood Australia’s national advocacy, policy and professional learning agenda, bringing together educators, leaders and sector partners to advance the rights and wellbeing of young children.

What we do
The ECA WA Committee advances advocacy and representation while strengthening professional connection across the early childhood education and care sector in Western Australia.
We create opportunities for networking and professional learning, contribute to policy conversations and meet regularly to progress shared priorities that support children, families, educators and carers.
Ongoing initiatives
- Contributing to consultation on the Western Australian full-time four-year-old kindergarten trial, including structured feedback to government and Ministers.
- Progressing 2026 advocacy priorities in line with ECA’s national direction and strengthening collaboration with state stakeholders.
- Increasing engagement with educators and services across regional and metropolitan WA through targeted networking and professional learning initiatives.
- Continuing to develop Special Interest Groups in Play, Rights of the Child (Safety) and Reconciliation as platforms for collaboration and sector leadership
- Planning the 2026 WA Conference, focused on connection as the foundation for collaboration and sector strength.
Achievements and impact
- Contributed to the Federal Senate Inquiry into the Quality and Safety of Early Childhood Education and Care.
- Participated in the WA State Government Child Safeguarding Working Group.
- Engaged in state discussions on the rollout of four-year-old kindergarten.
- Strengthened cross-sector collaboration through forums with AISWA, CEWA, SCSA and the Department of Education.
- Delivered sector-wide professional learning and community engagement initiatives in 2025.
- Hosted Twilight Tours, an Anti-Racism Workshop and a Children’s Week Play Picnic attended by more than 400 children and families.
