Information sharing and family violence reforms

The Victorian Government’s information sharing and family violence reforms aim to improve the wellbeing and safety of children and reduce family violence. As part of the reforms, two schemes have been introduced:

  • the Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS) to promote child wellbeing and safety
  • the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS) to assess and manage family violence risk (with reference to the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM)).

These information sharing and family violence reforms encourage early identification of issues, enable earlier support and engagement with families, as well as promote a collaborative approach across the service system.

Early Childhood Australia acknowledges the support of the Victorian Government under the Child Information Sharing Capacity Building Grants Program.

Promoting Children’s Health & Safety Conference: Embedding a culture of information sharing in early childhood

In July 2023, ECA presented the Promoting Children’s Health & Safety Conference: Embedding a culture of information sharing in early childhood. We were joined on the day by ECEC Professionals for a deep dive into the Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS), listening to expert speakers and participating in workshops to build  knowledge and confidence while learning from colleagues and other professionals from information sharing entities.
