The Tasmania Branch administers a scholarship program on behalf of the Tasmanian Department of Education to assist individuals gain early childhood qualifications that meet the Governmental Licensing Standards.
In 2003/04 the branch partnered the Tasmanian Department of Education to produce the Essential Connections: A Guide to Young Children's Learning. This publication describes significant markers of children's progress, gives delightful snapshots of their learning in action and suggests what the practitioner can do to capitalise and build on these emerging understandings.
In association with the Essential Connections publication, the branch also administers funding for professional development on behalf of the Department of Education for Children's Services Workers.

All Early Childhood Australia State and Territory Branches share the nationwide Mission Statement:
Early Childhood Australia will advocate to ensure quality, social justice and equity in all issues relating to the education and care of children from birth to eight years.
Goals
- To provide a unified and cohesive voice for young children and those who work to care and educate them.
- To promote and advocate for the rights of the child.
- To support and advocate for the improved status and standing of early childhood professionals.
- To promote and support quality training and professional development for the early childhood field.
- To support a seamless approach to children's education and care.
- To be a vital organisation that inspires people and attracts members.
- To provide a forum for the early childhood sector.
- To provide a consultative mechanism for government.
- To ensure members are informed on the current issues in the early childhood field by the production and distribution of a regular newsletter.
Subcommittees
Scholarships Subcommittee – the Scholarships Subcommittee administers the Scholarship Program on behalf of the Tasmanian Department of Education to assist individuals in gaining early childhood qualifications that meet the State Government Licensing Standards.
Regional Subcommittees – the branch has three Regional Subcommittees in the south, north and north-west regions of Tasmania that meet regularly.
Newsletter Subcommittee – publishes a quarterly branch newsletter.
